The license board may seem complicated at first glance but you will soon find out that it is very easy. For those who have played Final Fantasy X, you will learn right away it is very much like the sphere grid.
Yes it is based very much upon that but you have more freedom with the license board. Each character can have their own skills which they can master or they can each master everything. It's very simple to understand. When you defeat any enemy, you receive experience points and something called LP, License Points.
These points will allow you to buy panels on the board. Each panel had its own cost; some tend to be more than others. It is best to save your LP up to a certain points. Once most of the characters have a decent amount of points, you have the freedom to lead them in the direction you want. But you should also know that if you make a mistake with your Job choices just go to Clan Centerio and speak to Montblanc the Moogle and he will let you change your Jobs.

Vaan: The Jack of all Trades Vaan might not exactly have much agency in the story of FF12, this player-insert character is actually really useful in battle thanks to the fact that he is a complete 'everyman' - where everyone else has things that they outright suck at, Vaan is pretty decent at more or less everything, and in some cases even stands alongside the best in certain areas of combat.
Don't be afraid to be a little out-there with your job choice for Vaan as a result - while people like Ashe and Balthier have jobs and roles you'll definitely want them to fill, Vaan is a little easier to slot into your team make-up as whatever you need extra. All of the characters in the game have a natural affinity for how well they can lean into this combo system, and generally speaking the guys in FF12's party are better at combos than the girls, resulting in higher damage output when you get your combo on.
This makes them the ideal choice for classes like the Bushi, Uhlan or Shikari classes. Given how important Genji Gloves are and that there are two of these items in the game, you should set at least two of these three to focus on this type of class. Ashe and Penelo are your natural mages thanks to the fact they both have strong magic stats - and generally speaking, we tend to go for Ashe for black magic and Penelo for white, just because it seems to fit.

Give me the pleasure of taking it away. NotBot 2 years ago 2. There are some combos I like that are difficult to achieve even with two new boards and I especially feel like a lot of technicks are so niche I would have liked if there were more condensed onto fewer classes. Honestly the more I look at the class boards the more machinist feels anemic and not really necessary, though I know guns are great in weak mode runs. I liked being able to make everyone learn the same stuff in the original.
The jobs just don't seem like they're necessary or needed and it seems like a way to just put gateways up to make it harder to learn certain abilities. I personally prefer the old License Board, because everyone could get everything except for Espers and Quickenings, which were neatly in the corners, Even then it wasn't hard to just do a beeline to a Quickening Those were the first things I had everyone learn. I like the old license board better. I still like TZA overall, but was quite disappointed that full license board wasn't an option unless you play on PC with mods.
Difficulty wise I'd say that TZA is even easier than original, so not like choices made it any more clallenging. It's still easy, unless you want to bother with a challenge run, which you could do in original too. But I personally don't like challenge runs, instead I like to do "have it all runs".
